Italy is part of the Schengen Area. International participants may require a Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C) to attend CatScience 2026, depending on nationality.
Do I Need a Visa?
Visa-exempt entry
Citizens of the following countries may enter Italy without a visa for tourism or business purposes (including conferences), for up to 90 days within a 180-day period:
European Union (EU) & European Economic Area (EEA)
All EU and EEA member states enjoy visa-free access.
Other Visa-Exempt Countries:

Visa Required:
Nationals of countries not listed above must obtain a Schengen C-type visa prior to traveling to Italy (for short stays of up to 90 days). This includes many countries in Africa, Asia and others.

Invitation Letter for Visa Application
The CatScience 2026 Secretariat provides official invitation letters to support visa applications. Please note that an invitation letter does not guarantee visa approval, which is solely at the discretion of the embassy or consulate.Eligibility for Invitation Letter
At least one of the following conditions must be met:
- Author of an accepted abstract (oral or poster presentation), or
- Completed registration with full payment
How to Request an Invitation Letter
Send EmailPlease provide the following information in your request:
- Title (Dr., Professor, Mr., Mrs., Miss, Ms, etc.)
- Your full name (Please specify family name and given name)
- Organization
- Full mailing address
- Telephone and fax numbers
- Email address
- Copy of passport
Common Documents Required for Schengen Visa
(Requirements may vary by country)
- Valid passport (with sufficient validity)
- Passport-size photographs (Schengen format)
- Official invitation letter from CatScience 2026
- Proof of registration and payment
- Flight itinerary (arrival & departure)
- Hotel booking or proof of accommodation
- Proof of financial means (bank statements or sponsor letter)
- Proof of employment or student status
- Travel medical insurance
Travel Medical Insurance
Most Schengen visa applications require insurance with:
- Minimum coverage of €30,000
- Valid across all Schengen countries
- Coverage for emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation
