Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria, Reggio Calabria, Italy

Heritage

The Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria (Università Mediterranea degli Studi di Reggio Calabria), while a modern institution founded in 1968, draws its academic lineage from a rich and ancient tradition. It is the direct heir of the University of Messina's Faculty of Engineering, which itself has roots stretching back centuries. This connection to a deep-seated history of learning in Southern Italy provides a unique academic foundation that blends time-honored tradition with contemporary innovation.

Location

Nestled in the vibrant city of Reggio Calabria, the university enjoys a spectacular location at the very tip of the Italian "boot," with the sparkling Ionian Sea on one side and the dramatic slopes of the Aspromonte National Park on the other. Its campus and departments are integrated into the urban fabric, offering a truly Mediterranean atmosphere. The city's famed seafront promenade, "Via Lungomare," is just a short walk away, providing a breathtaking setting for a stroll. From this prime location, the volcanic island of Sicily and the mighty Mount Etna are visible across the Strait of Messina, a constant and inspiring backdrop for academic pursuits.

Mission

The university is dedicated to advanced education and research in key areas central to the Mediterranean region, with a strong focus on architecture, engineering, agricultural science, and law. Its mission is intrinsically linked to the sustainable development of the Mediterranean basin, emphasizing applied research, innovative technologies, and the preservation and enhancement of the cultural and environmental heritage unique to this crossroads of civilizations.

Conference Setting

As a center of knowledge and creativity deeply connected to its geographic and cultural context, the Mediterranea University provides a profoundly inspiring setting for the 4th International Conference on Catalysis and Chemical Engineering (CatScience 2026). It offers participants the chance to engage in a stimulating academic environment, surrounded by the stunning beauty and rich history of the Mediterranean.
