Bio:

Dr. Kazunari Domen is a University Professor at The University of Tokyo and a Distinguished Honorary Professor at Shinshu University. He earned his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Tokyo. His research focuses on developing novel photocatalysts and related systems for efficient solar-to-chemical energy conversion, particularly water splitting for hydrogen production. He has pioneered the large-scale demonstration of this technology. Dr. Domen has published over 850 papers with more than 120,000 citations (h-index 161) and has received numerous honors, including the 2024 Clarivate Citation Laureate in Chemistry and the 2025 August Wilhelm von Hofmann Lecture Award from the German Chemical Society.
